What fascinates me is what happens between people when they make music — in resonance with another instrument, in the sound of a choir, in the space between teacher and learner.

Music is a moment of joy and a comfort, a demanding practice and nourishment for the soul — I have known this from every side as a violinist and violist.

In search of what touches and heals in shared sound, I developed an approach I call Auragogics. My dissertation at HMT Leipzig — Music as the Art of Encounter → — set out its theoretical foundation; since 2016 I have taught it at the University of Cologne →.

When the violin is at rest, I paint under the name Bai Nike — oil paintings, with bare hands. The same movement, in colour. bai-nike.com →

Auragogik

ENCOUNTER AND RESONANCE

What happens between the players is the true site of music-making. Not the note, not the technique. What becomes audible when two people meet in sound. I call it Auragogics.

THE IN-BETWEEN

When we teach, we usually look at someone. At the child. At the adult. Auragogics looks elsewhere — not at the one who learns, but at the in-between: between teacher and learner, between players, between voices in a choir. This is not a space to look at. It is a space you enter.

IMPROVISATION

Relationship cannot be rehearsed like a fingering. Whoever seeks encounter has to let something unplanned happen. In my practice, improvisation is not a style — it is a method.

ART AND REMEDY

Music is a moment of joy and a comfort, a demanding discipline and nourishment for the soul. Auragogics takes both seriously — and treats artistic rigour and remedy as one and the same path, not as opposites.
